"They came from the Capital Region and beyond wearing red "Make America Great Again" hats and holding "The Silent Majority Stands With Trump" signs in what almost seemed like a religious revival.

The Republican presidential front-runner sounded his familiar themes of fixing unfair trade deals, securing the borders and keeping American safe in a speech before about 15,000 people Monday evening at the Times Union Center.

"Our country doesn't win anymore. We lose on education. We're at like the bottom of the list. Our health care is no good. Obamacare is a disaster. We're going to repeal and replace it," he said.

He said he agrees with Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders that America is getting ripped off on trade because of bad deals with other countries....
.........
America is getting killed on foreign policy, according to Trump. The Iran deal was a disaster and the United States receives very little for its efforts to protect other countries around the world.
...........
"We're defending them for practically nothing," he said.
.....
Trump then discussed his favorite topic: the wall. He said Mexico will pay for the wall and it is needed to stop the flow of illegal aliens, to prevent drugs from coming into the country and to guard against the threat posed by radical Islamic terrorists....

Trump's nearly hour-long speech was interrupted about a half-dozen times by protesters, and a minor fight broke out in the stands.
..........
There were also about 200 protesters outside, but there were no arrests, according to police.

Trump discouraged supporters from retaliating against the protesters but criticized the demonstrators' actions.
.........
"It's a disgrace that somebody can behave like that," he said.
.......
People came from all over the state to hear Trump.
.........
Steve Ross of Queensbury was attending the event with his 12-year-old son Joe.
........
Although he can't vote, Joe said he would support Trump because he speaks the truth.

"I like what he says, what he thinks," he said.
..........
His father was still weighing who he would he would support. Trump can be a little crass, he said.
.........
"Hopefully, he'll turn it around a bit, mellow out," he said.
.......
Ryan Shumway of Cohoes said he backs Trump's immigration stance.
.........
Prolly Miller of Middleburgh said she supports Trump because he will fix the economy, reduce taxes and support the military.
..........
"I like that he's anti-establishment. He's real," she said.
.........
Mario Tricomi of Albany said he fully supports Trump.
........
"He's patriotic. He's real. He tells it the way it is. He doesn't care about what anybody thinks," he said.
.........
He believes he has a really good chance.
.........
"Look at the publicity he's getting," he said."...

"In Albany, Republican front-runner Donald Trump is holding a rally Monday night at the Times Union Center. Supporters began arriving as early as 7:30 a.m. to see the billionaire businessman's evening appearance."...

ALBANY, N.Y. — By the time doors opened at the Times Union Center on Monday, a line of several thousand people already wrapped nearly twice around an adjoining city block.

All of it was in support of Donald Trump. Screams of "build that wall" and "we love you Trump" echoed off the city towers and parking garages all afternoon, as supporters of the billionaire businessman milled about, festooned in "Make America Great Again" hats and shirts.

"He's the man! All the way!" said Steven Tirpak, one of the first to arrive at 7:30 a.m. Tirpak drove his custom-painted 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier, adorned in a camouflage backdrop with various Trump slogans painted in white.

"No doubt in my mind: if we want change, it's gonna come from him," said Tirpak, from Greene County. "He's been getting beaten up lately, but he's hanging in there. He doesn't give up — that's the thing."

"I've been out of work for almost two years," said Mike Berkowitz, a karate instructor and maintenance man from Glens Falls: "As a businessman with his forté being economics, I think Trump can create jobs and solve a lot of problems with our money.""...
